I can't believe I first posted this on March 12th, just four days ago. When I posted it, I'd only known the term for a day or two, but now I feel like I've known about it for weeks! Isn't it interesting how much can happen in such a short period of time? Flattening the curve has so much to do with our behavioral choices right now. In order to not overtax our medical infrastructure, the best practice appears extreme, although I would argue that it isn't. We are being asked to wash our hands for 20 seconds or more with hot water often. We are being asked to become aware of what our hands touch and then how often we touch our faces. Ideally, we never touch our faces unless we have thoroughly washed our own hands after touching anything else. Sounds extreme, but it slows the spread of the virus. This behavior is a rational behavior in response to a pandemic. I'm willing to do it, and I encourage you to do the same.
